Bosnia’s Chief Prosecutor, Gordana Tadic, discussed justice for victims, punishment of war crimes, protection of security and rights of all citizens, reconciliation and the rule of law in the region with the Chief Prosecutor of the International Residual Mechanism for Criminal Courts (IRMCT), Serge Brammertz, in Belgrade on Tuesday.
According to the BiH Prosecutor’s Office, Brammertz expressed support for the Chief Prosecutor and her office as well as the Special Department for War Crimes in their efforts to process war crimes cases in the region as efficiently as possible so that regional prosecutors fight impunity for war crimes 26 years after conflicts in the former Yugoslavia.
The meeting was held as part of the Regional Meeting of Prosecutors on Cooperation in War Crimes Proceedings, organized and supported by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and the Government of the United Kingdom, and attended by more than 50 prosecutors and judicial officials, as well as international organizations, representatives of the international community and diplomats.
