IRMCT responds to Sarajevo Institute regarding Ratko Mladic remains

The International Residual Mechanism for Criminal Tribunals responded to the Institute for Research of Crimes Against Humanity and International Law of the University of Sarajevo regarding an August 29, 2026, inquiry concerning the transfer of Ratko Mladic’s remains and state honors in Serbia. Mechanism Registrar Abubacarr M. Tambadou stated that the institution understands the sensitivity and concerns surrounding the potential political use of the remains. However, the Mechanism is bound by international law and human rights standards requiring that a deceased prisoner's body be returned to the family as soon as reasonably possible. Pročitaj više
