Israel Embassy marks anniversary of October 7 attack in Istocno Sarajevo

As previously announced, the event took place in Istocno Sarajevo at the National Theater, located at Stefana Nemanje 6. The program featured an exhibition of photographs by Ziv Koren and a screening of the documentary *Screams Before Silence* by Sheryl Sandberg.

Originally planned for Sarajevo’s Hotel Evropa, the event was moved to its new location.

In her opening speech, Israel's Ambassador to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Galit Peleg, expressed her gratitude to attendees for their support. The commemoration began with a moment of silence in honour of the victims of the October 7 attack.

The event was attended by ambassadors, religious leaders, and notable public officials.

Following the Hamas attack, Israel launched its invasion of the Gaza Strip. While Israel has stated that the goal is to eliminate Hamas, the war has resulted in the deaths of over 40,000 civilians, including approximately 17,000 children.

International calls for Israel to cease its operations in Gaza—many labelling the actions as genocide—have been widespread, but the conflict has continued for over a year. The fighting has now extended to Lebanon and surrounding areas due to Israel’s ongoing tensions with Hezbollah.
