Bakir Izetbegovic and Dragan Covic, leaders of the Democratic Action Party (SDA) and Croat Democratic Union (HDZ BiH), arrived at the residence of the US ambassador on Monday afternoon for a meeting with the US Department of State Counselor Derek Chollet, after which Izetbegovic briefly said nothing new was said.
When asked by journalists what was discussed, Izetbegovic said:
“I can't say there's anything new there. American friends are with us, but they expect us to lead the processes and offer solutions. They are very persistent in saying that Mr Covic and I need to offer a solution. So, I say that we are the same as we have been on so far, no new progress or some new moments,” he said, and when asked if new meetings have been announced for Wednesday, Izetbegovic answered:
“Nothing is scheduled for tomorrow.”
The American official will have a series of meetings on Tuesday, and at 4 pm he will hold a meeting with the members of the Presidency of BiH.
I met with Speaker Dragan Covic and Second Deputy Speaker Bakir Izetbegovic to urge the leadership, trust building, and Federation entity functionality essential to BiH’s stability and EU path. More transparent and credible elections in 2022 need all parties’ support. pic.twitter.com/XxhUD39iag
