The Croat member of Bosnia’s tripartite Presidency, Zeljko Komsic, and UK Ambassador in the country, Matthew Field, discussed activities on limited Constitutional and Election Law reform necessary for the implementation of five European Court of Human Rights rulings which would bring the country closer to EU membership.
The implementation of the rulings by the international court would entail removing discriminatory provisions from the Constitution and Election Law and is among the 14 key priorities the European Commission defined in its Opinion on BiH's application for EU candidate status.
Komsic stressed the importance of protecting the integrity of the election process by implementing all the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights recommendations in terms of introducing advanced technologies in order to reduce the possibility of electoral theft and manipulation.
