A pig's head was left on the memorial, and swastikas were drawn on the monuments.
"The organizers expressed horror and condemned this act as a clear intention to offend not only the organizers of today's commemoration but also all the victims of the Islamic faith who were buried at this location during the 1992 aggression against BiH," stated Faruk Kajtaz.
Sanel Kajan, a member of the Parliament of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, called upon the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Herzegovina-Neretva Canton (MUP HNK) to react urgently.
"The horror experienced by the families of the people buried in the Liska harem has reached the limits of the unbearable. And no one is protecting us! I call on the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Herzegovina-Neretva Canton to react urgently, conduct a thorough investigation, and find the perpetrator or perpetrators of this heinous misdeed. For years, they have been mistreating us. For decades! They write fascist symbols on the tombstones of our fathers, brothers, and sisters. They destroy headstones! They park vehicles on top of the graves. They bring dogs to relieve themselves in the harem. Recently, concrete crosses were placed in spots where no one is buried, without first and last names, right next to the graves of our fathers, brothers, and sisters. And today, a pig's head! What else can we take?! What else needs to happen for the authorities to finally react? What needs to happen for the Liska harem to be protected, for its desecration to be stopped, and for the families of the buried to finally find peace and rest? We only ask for what should be taken for granted in any civilized society, the protection of the dead and the peace of their families," Kajan wrote on Facebook.
