On the 30th anniversary of the Prijedor White Ribbon Day, a motion was launched to recognize May 31, the World White Ribbon Day, in Canada.

A statement received from Canadian MP Brian Masse confirms that the Canadian Parliament has officially launched an initiative to adopt a resolution recognizing the World White Ribbon Day in Canada.

According to the Institute for the Research of Genocide Canada (IGK), the sponsor of the mentioned resolution is Masse, a great friend of the truth about the aggression and genocide in BiH, justice for the victims of those crimes and a great friend of the state of BiH. Also, with this statement, Masse clearly and unequivocally calls the crime in Prijedor genocide.

He recalled that in 2012, on the eve of the 20th anniversary of the Decree on White Ribbons, the people of Prijedor formed the group Stop Genocide Denial, with the aim of raising awareness about the World White Ribbon Day.

“Since then, the remembrance of these atrocities and crimes against humanity has grown all around the world. Worldwide White Armband Day reminds us of the brutality of hatred and the human capacity for unspeakable cruelty. We all have a duty to ensure that the crimes of genocide and torture are permanently eradicated, that the victims of such crimes are remembered, and that perpetrators are exposed and brought to justice. Combating genocide denial is an essential part of the process. As part of this effort, I will work with fellow Members of Parliament to pass a motion in the House of Commons to recognize World White Ribbon Day in Canada,” Masse wrote.

Commemorations of the thirtieth anniversary of the White Ribbon Day were held throughout Canada. In front of the Canadian Parliament in Ottawa, in front of the Toronto City Assembly, in front of the Hamilton City Assembly, in front of the monument to the victims of the Srebrenica genocide in Windsor and in Bosnian language schools in Canada.

The common message from the commemorations was: The truth about the Prijedor white ribbons, the truth about the killed Prijedor children and the truth about the killed Prijedor civilians is kept in Canada from oblivion
