Speaking to N1, Murphy said it was necessary to continue the search for the missing persons and to prosecute those responsible for genocide.

This responsibility is on all levels of authority in BiH, including that in Republika Srpska entity, he stressed, reiterating that the US stands with BiH, while its citizens are heading towards the accomplishment of their goals and reconciliation.

Asked if BiH can expect assistance and support as a strong response of the western countries, Murphy said that the stance of the US is very clear.

When it comes to the nature of the attacks on the Dayton Peace Agreement and the constitutional order of BiH by Republika Srpska and its president Milorad Dodik, US Secretary of the State Antony Blinken was very clear, said the ambassador, stressing that the US will protect BiH, its integrity, sovereignty and multi-ethnic character from anti-Dayton and anti-constitutional activities.

He also emphasised it is everyone's obligation to admit what happened in Srebrenica, which is genocide, and that there is also a responsibility to teach children about it.

The remains of another 30 victims will be buried this week at the Potocari Memorial Centre, with the youngest victim aged 15 at the time of the death and other two juvenile victims aged 16 and 17.

Over 8,000 persons were killed in the genocide, mainly men and boys. To date, the remains of 6,652 have been buried at the Potocari memorial. The remains of 237 have been buried elsewhere according to their families’ wishes.

For the Srebrenica genocide, the Hague war crimes tribunal sentenced to life former Bosnian Serb political and military leaders Radovan Karadzic and Ratko Mladic.
