North Macedonian Foreign Affairs Minister Bujar Osmani said that, if it proves that Serbia was in any way involved in the September 24 attack in Banjska, northern Kosovo, his country should reconsider its participation in the regional Open Balkan initiative (OBI).
In an interview with Telma TV, Osmani said Serbia should make an effort and prove that it is not involved in the recent events in the north of Kosovo.
“It (the Open Balkan initiative) was a well-intentioned idea. However, I think that after the September 24 events in Kosovo, Serbia should make an effort and prove that it was not involved in that incident, because if there was any kind of state involvement, that would render impossible our participation and that of the other countries in the region, since the idea of the Open Balkan initiative is, above all, reconciliation. And what happened in northern Kosovo with the attack, I hope it will be proved that the state was not involved, but if it is proved otherwise I really think we should reconsider our participation,” said Osmani.
The Open Balkan initiative is an economic and political initiative of three participating states in the Balkans – Albania, North Macedonia and Serbia.
