N1 Croatia is becoming part of one of the new European centres for combatting disinformation as part of the European Digital Media Observatory (EDMO) project, worth €1.8 million, and is set to start on 1 January 2023, N1 television reported on Tuesday.
At the beginning of December, the European Commission selected six new regional hubs to become part of the European Digital Media Observatory (EDMO).
“EDMO serves as a hub for fact-checkers, academics and other relevant stakeholders to collaborate with each other. It encourages them to actively link with media organisations, media literacy experts, and provide support to policymakers. This helps to coordinate actions in the fight against disinformation,” the European Commission says on its website..
Adria Digital Media Observatory (ADMO) has been selected as one of the hubs whose goal is to fight against digital media disinformation in Croatia and Slovenia.
The project holder is the Department of Communication at the University of Dubrovnik.
The partners are the Zagreb Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, the Zagreb Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences and the Zagreb Faculty of Political Science, the GONG NGO, Adria News d.o.o. (N1 television), Agence France Presse (AFP), Xwiki (France) and Oštro (Slovenia).
The 30-month-long project starts on 1 January, and its value is €1.8 million.
