Another round of negotiations on changes to Bosnia’s Election Law could be held in Brussels over the next ten days, N1 learned from several sources. With the mediation of the highest officials in Brussels, the election model should be discussed according to the principles that were negotiated in Sarajevo, and the integrity package, which presupposed technical changes to the Law.

It was also confirmed for N1, that ambassadors of the USA, OSCE and the EU delegation in BiH sent the text of the package on the integrity of the elections to the Interdepartmental Working Group for Electoral Reform. The text consists of technical changes to the Election Law that were also being negotiated in Sarajevo. Negotiators from the Croat Democratic Union (HDZ BiH) were against it, insisting that changes to the election package can only be supported in a package with an election model for the Presidency and the House of Peoples of FBiH entity.

The package submitted by the ambassadors does not contain the HDZ's proposal on the election of members of the Central Election Commission, which, in addition to the House of Representatives, should also win the support of the House of Peoples of BiH.

Also, the integrity package does not include the Alliance of Independent Social Democrats’ (SNSD) proposal to abolish voting by mail.

The Democratic Action Party (SDA) has previously confirmed that it will secure votes for the integrity package to be sent to the parliamentary procedure, if the issue is not agreed on at the session of the Interdepartmental Working Group.
