Sekerinska noted that the anniversary commemorates “the end of one of the darkest and most tragic chapters in modern European history.”

She said that the Dayton Agreement also "marked a new beginning" and gave hope to all the people of Bosnia and Herzegovina for a "safer, better future".

"It also paved the way for greater stability across the Western Balkans. NATO was an integral part of this historic process, from the deployment of IFOR in 1995 to today’s robust and mutually beneficial partnership through the ITPP program, designed to support everyone living in Bosnia and Herzegovina," she said.

Sekerinska stressed that a stable and secure Bosnia and Herzegovina, and a peaceful Western Balkans, mean greater security across the entire Euro-Atlantic region.

“For three decades, NATO and our allies have been continuously engaged in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Our position has always been clear and consistent: we will not allow a security vacuum to emerge, nor will we allow the hard-won peace to be threatened,” she told N1.

She emphasized that NATO strongly supports Bosnia and Herzegovina’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

“Today, I want to once again reaffirm that our commitment to the security of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and to the stability of the wider region, remains rock solid,” Šekerinska concluded.
