Allies strongly support the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Bosnia and Herzegovina, a NATO official told N1, noting that the recent vote by entity parliament of Republika Srpska entity to suspend the rulings of Bosnia and Herzegovina’s Constitutional Court on its territory is “irresponsible.”
“This goes against the letter and spirit of the Dayton Peace Agreement and the constitution of Bosnia and Herzegovina,” the official stressed.
The same official said “we condemn any attempt to weaken BiH state-level institutions, which only undermines the security of Bosnia and Herzegovina,” adding that this also has negative consequences for the country's reforms, economy and for regional stability.
“The unified structures of Bosnia and Herzegovina are important for the stability of the country, in particular the Armed Forces, one of the country’s strongest multi-ethnic institutions,” the NATO official said.
In the end, the official reaffirmed NATO's support to the country's Euro-Atlantic integration.
“NATO remains committed to our strong political dialogue and practical cooperation with Bosnia and Herzegovina. We will continue to support Bosnia and Herzegovina’s Euro Atlantic reform efforts for the benefit of all its people – and without prejudice to a final decision on NATO membership – including through the efforts of NATO Headquarters in Sarajevo.”
