Head of Bosnian government Borjana Kristo met with Pope Francis on Monday in Vatican, emphasising the importance of the Holy See's support to the country's integration into the European Union.
Kristo expressed gratitude to pontiff for meeting her delegation during the Holy Week, when he is leading the Catholic sermons ahead of the greatest Christian holiday Easter.
She said on this occasion that Pope Francis keeps encouraging the spirit of togetherness and brotherly love, which is of great importance for all religious and ethnic communities in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

She also recalled of Pope's visit to Bosnia in 2015, when he emphasised the importance of tolerance, dialogue and cooperation among different peoples and religions for the common good.
“It was in this atmosphere that Kristo expressed her belief that the Holy See's engagement in favour of reconciliation, dialogue and mutual trust in the region, as well as support for the European integration of Bosnia and Herzegovina, will continue in the coming period,” according to the statement issued by the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Pope Francis emphasised on this occasion that tolerance, mutual understanding and cooperation are the basis of every society with the goal of peaceful coexistence and stability, and that these values are common to all people.
Kristo said that the new convocation of Bosnian government, formally the Council of Ministers, has already made significant steps and that they will continue with further work in order to make progress in the reform processes, including the work on the 14 key priorities from the European Commission's Opinion on BiH's EU candidacy application.
Integrating Bosnia and Herzegovina into the EU remains the strategic and priority goal, she stressed, adding that she remains undoubtedly committed to the further improvement of political dialogue, maintaining of good neighborly relations, and all that with the goal of peaceful coexistence, stability and economic prosperity for the benefit of all peoples in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
She also stressed that the support of the Holy See to BiH's European path is of crucial importance.
“Kristo informed the Holy Father about the efforts, offered solutions and readiness for constructive dialogue and compromise, with full respect for the multiethnic character of Bosnia and Herzegovina, in order to find solutions and implement a limited constitutional reform and amending of the Election Law of Bosnia and Herzegovina,” according to the statement.
