Ratko Mladic did not deserve the sentence he was sentenced to because, both as a man and as a soldier, he is highly moral and just, Bosiljka Mladic, Bosiljka Mladic, the wife of former Republika Srpska Army commander Ratko Mladic, who was sentenced to life in prison on Tuesday, told Vecernje Novosti the same day.
“He didn’t deserve such a sentence. Ratko is highly moral and just both as a man and soldier. He was born for a different time, but I hope such days will come when it will be clear he wasn’t judged either by law or by justice,” Bosiljka Mladic said.
She said the second-instance verdict that sentenced general Ratko Mladic to life in prison for genocide, crimes against humanity, violations of the law or customs of war during the 1992-1995 war in BiH “was the last blow from which the family will have a hard time recovering.”
“Now, but only for now, this unfair court decision is the deepest mark,” Mladic told Vecernje Novosti.
She also expressed her belief that the day will come when “history will write differently about general Mladic.”
Ratko Mladic, the Bosnian Serb army general, was sentenced to life in prison by the International Residual Mechanism for Criminal Tribunals (MICT), Tuesday, confirming the first instance verdict.
