Addressing the UN Security Council session on Tuesday evening, Russian Ambassador Vasily Nebenzya said that BiH Presidency member Zeljka Cvijanovic's letter reflects the concerns of the Serb people in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

“Cvijanovic's letter reflects the concerns of the Serb people. We often hear that the Security Council has an obligation to prevent conflict, many speak of it as something of the greatest importance. The situation in BiH is an example of where the Security Council can act. The Bosnian war is one of the most contradictory chapters in terms of the response of the international community. Srebrenica is not the only bloody site of this war, the UN must not repeat its mistakes,” the Russian Ambassador said.

“As a member of the Security Council and the Peace Implementation Council, Russia must not turn a blind eye. Thank you for convening the session at this meeting. Almost 29 years ago, a general agreement for peace ended a brutal conflict and guaranteed peace in the region for 30 years,” he added.

In his further address, he pointed out that “BiH no longer has the status of a sovereign and independent state”.

“The events from the past months speak of an unforgivable violation of the premises of this agreement. It continues and we have been warning about it. BiH no longer has the status of a sovereign and independent state. It is hard to believe that the highest authority is in the hands of German citizens who acts for small groups and uses the Bonn powers for their interests. He behaves like a monarch, and Western democracy promoters support him”, Nebenzya said.

“When it comes to external tutorship of other countries, it resembles a colonial practice. The permanent representatives in the UN forgot about the agreement of the three peoples when they supported the agreement. Almost a third of the population is against the UN Resolution on Srebrenica, this is a political action and a deliberate violation of the Dayton Agreement and Dayton competencies. It is difficult to imagine the consequences of this, we cannot exclude the destabilization of the Balkans. It seems, extremely cynically, that the leader in this document is Germany, which committed the worst genocide in the history of mankind,” the Russian ambassador noted.

“The Resolution on Srebrenica has nothing to do with the alleged goal of commemorating the victims of the tragedy”, Nebenzya said among other things.
