According to the Russian Embassy, the statement of the Peace Implementation Council (PIC) Ambassadors which stressed the importance of functional BiH institutions and called for an end to secessionist rhetoric should be “ignored” as it does not represent the position of the entire international community.
Earlier on Thursday, the Ambassadors PIC, the international body overseeing the implementation of Bosnia’s 1995 Dayton Peace Agreement, issued a statement in light of the political situation in BiH, urging political leaders to reject destabilizing and divisive rhetoric and any actions “calling into question the existence of BiH as a single, sovereign state comprising two entities.”

The statement came in light of recent statements by the Serb member of Bosnia’s tripartite Presidency, Milorad Dodik, who is also the leader of the ruling party in Bosnia’s semi-autonomous Republika Srpska (RS) entity.
Dodik said that the RS will withdraw its previous agreements which led to the creation of the BiH Armed Forces, leave state institutions and ban the activities of the BiH Indirect Taxation Authority and BiH’s state police in the RS as a response to the law banning genocide denial in BiH which the former High Representative in the country imposed in July.
The PIC expressed full support for Bosnia’s integrity and sovereignty and the High Representative in the country, Christian Schmidt, who is tasked with overseeing the civilian implementation of the 1995 Dayton Peace Agreement.
The Russian Federation noted that it does not agree with the PIC statement, saying it does not accept Schmidt as the new High Representative in the country and that it did not participate in putting together the statement in any way.
“We emphasize that this statement does not reflect the views of the entire international community in BiH and call for it to be ignored,” the embassy said.
