Sarajevo Mayor Benjamina Karic extended her condolences over the tragic events in Istanbul on Sunday when several persons were killed in a deadly explosion in the city's main pedestrian street and dozens were injured.

“It is with great sadness that I have received the news about the explosion in the downtown of Istanbul, Turkey. On behalf of the City of Sarajevo and my own, I am expressing the deepest condolences over the lost lives to mayor Ekrem Imamoglu and Turkish people, wishing that those who were injured successfully recover,” said Karic.

She also said that “in accordance with the proved friendship between the two cities and the cooperation between the two countries”, they can count on the strong support of the citizens of Sarajevo and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
