Sarajevo police begin using body cameras in daily operations

The body camera is a small video device attached to a suitable place on the uniform, above the belt, positioned to record the space in front of the officer. The device remains switched off when the officer is not exercising police authority.

“During police duties and the application of police powers, an officer is obliged to inform the individual concerned that they are being recorded. In exceptional situations, when informing the individual could endanger the safety of the officer or another person, or jeopardise the lawful purpose justifying the use of police authority, the officer may delay informing the individual. Once these circumstances cease, the officer must immediately notify the person that a body camera is being used,” the Sarajevo Canton Police Administration stated.
