The streets of Sarajevo, the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina, are bustling with both foreign and domestic tourists despite the high temperatures. Many have flocked to visit the city's famous historical landmarks, including the Sebilj in Bascarsija, various mosques, churches, synagogues, and museums like the National Museum of BiH and the City Hall.
Tourists have been captured by the Anadolu Agency team enjoying the city's sights, with many seeking respite from the heat in local cafes and restaurants, where they can savor delicious food and the renowned Bosnian coffee.
According to the Sarajevo Canton Tourist Board, the region has achieved a significant milestone with one million tourist overnight stays recorded in the first seven months and the first 10 days of August 2024. This marks the earliest that such a figure has been reached, surpassing previous records set in September 2023 and August 2019.
Haris Fazlagic, President of the Sarajevo Canton Tourist Board, expressed satisfaction with these results, emphasizing that they motivate further efforts to enhance the city's global presentation. Fazlagic also pointed out that while these figures represent officially registered tourists, the actual number is likely much higher due to the presence of unregistered accommodations operating in violation of local tourism laws.
