The final batch of molten iron from the blast furnace was delivered on Thursday to the steel plant at the Nova Zeljezara Zenica company, after which the blast furnace was safely shut down, company spokesperson Alena Kahrimanovic confirmed for FENA.

"At around 10:30 am, the blast furnace was definitively shut down and ceased operations. However, this was done in the safest possible way so that it can be restarted if conditions allow. The steel plant also stopped operations around 3 pm," Kahrimanovic said.
The steel plant was processing the last quantities of molten iron supplied from the blast furnace, which had been filled with large amounts of coke, allowing it to be restarted even after two years.
In line with a previously established plan, the shutdown of integrated steel production in Zenica and Bosnia and Herzegovina began on Wednesday with the suspension of operations at the sinter plant.
