The Alliance of Independent Social Democrats (SNSD), the ruling party in Bosnia’s Republika Srpska (RS) entity, announced a meeting of state-level coalition representatives, where changes to the Election Law of Bosnia and Herzegovina were discussed.

The meeting of coalition party leaders was held in Laktasi, and the SNSD was the host.

“An important step forward was achieved, at today's meeting, on key issues for BiH's European path. Significant progress has been made regarding the BiH Election Law, which will be finalized in February. The political leaders have committed to continue constructive partnership talks with the aim of reaching an agreement within the stated deadline,” the SNSD stated briefly.

On December 19, 2023, the High Representative in BiH, Christian Schmidt, rekindled the talks of changes to the Election Law concerning the integrity of the electoral process in BiH, by announcing that he would impose changes if the political leaders do not reach an agreement soon. It was the SNSD leader, Milorad Dodik, who strongly opposed such an intervention. In one of his last speeches, he stated that the intervention would mean the end of BiH's European path.
