This is the first January without snow on Bjelasnica mountain since 1962

N1

Bosnia and Herzegovina is experiencing unusually high temperatures at this time of year and this is the first time since 1962 that no snow can be on the peak of Bjelasnica mountain at the beginning of January.

The mountain near Sarajevo is usually a popular winter destination for locals and many tourists. However, this ski season has not been very successful so far.

A similar situation was also recorded in January 1973 and 2016, with a minimum snow depth of only five centimetres, and in 2014, when seven centimetres were measured, according to bhmeteo.ba.

However, only this January and the one of 1962 will be remembered for a complete lack of snow on the peaks of Bjelasnica.
