Three people injured in a gas explosion and fire at Nova Zeljezara Zenica

Minor injuries were sustained by M. M. from Prijedor and N. A. from Zenica, while M. K. from Begov Han, born in 1967, suffered serious injuries and was transported to the University Clinical Center Sarajevo.

According to information provided to FENA by Kenan Mujkanovic, president of the Metalworkers' Union of Zenica-Doboj Canton, the seriously injured worker is Mirnes Kamerić, an employee of Nova Željezara Zenica.

''Kameric suffered severe burns while transferring gas in the Energy Department. The gas ignited, and an explosion occurred,'' said Mujkanovic.

Spokesperson for Nova Zeljezara Zenica, Alena Kahrimanovic, confirmed that an explosion and fire occurred within the NZZ complex ''during the transfer of liquid oxygen from a tanker belonging to Messer, which is a routine operation''. However, according to her information, two people were injured.
