Tourist surge in Bosnia's Federation entity: April 2024 sees significant increase

In April 2024, the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina welcomed 99,658 tourists, a 17.2% increase compared to April 2023, and a 48% rise from March 2024. Domestic tourists accounted for 24.4%, while foreign tourists comprised 75.6%.

There were 75,297 foreign tourists and 24,361 domestic visitors. The top countries of origin for foreign tourists were Turkey (14,346), Croatia (10,404), Slovenia (5,167), Serbia (4,603), and China (4,398).

The total number of overnight stays in April 2024 was 181,938, up by 13.3% compared to April 2023, and 40.6% higher than March 2024. Domestic tourists accounted for 23.4% of overnight stays, while foreign tourists accounted for 76.6%.

Most overnight stays were in hotels and similar accommodations, representing 95.9% of the total. The highest number of overnight stays among foreign tourists were from Turkey (14.6%), Croatia (12.9%), Slovenia (6.1%), Serbia (5.7%), and the USA (5.3%), totaling 44.6%. Tourists from other countries contributed to 55.4% of the overnight stays.

The number of available beds in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina in April 2024 was 30,858, a 1.4% increase from April 2023. The net bed occupancy rate for hotels and similar accommodations was 21.9%.
