US Ambassador to Bosnia and Herzegovina Michael Murphy met with the associations of victims in the eastern Bosnia, expressing support to their efforts to locate the missing victims of the Srebrenica genocide and to assist the survivors.
“I had the privilege once again to meet with the Mothers of Srebrenica and Podrinje to discuss their important work to preserve the memories of the Srebrenica genocide victims and combat genocide denial,” the ambassador posted on X platform on Monday.
On this occasion he also stressed the importance of honouring the victims and bringing the perpetrators to justice.
“We stand with the Mothers and strongly support their efforts to help locate the victims of the Srebrenica genocide as well as to assist the survivors. Acknowledging the past, honouring the victims, and bringing the perpetrators to justice are essential to reconciliation and lasting peace in BiH,” said Murphy.
This year marks the 29th anniversary of the Srebrenica genocide. The commemoration will take place on July 11 at the Potocari Memorial Centre.
