U.S. Senator Chuck Grassley commented on the visit of the president of BiH’s Republika Srpska (RS) entity, Milorad Dodik, to Russia after the BiH Court issued an arrest warrant for him. He compared Dodik to former Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.
“Just like Assad in Syria, would-be dictator Dodik flees to Russia for safe haven. He is about to face justice in Bosnia and Herzegovina for his failed attempt to break up the country and stop integration with Europe”, Grassley posted on X.
Senator Grassley, along with Senator Jeanne Shaheen, is leading a congressional initiative calling for an urgent diplomatic intervention to halt unconstitutional actions in Bosnia and Herzegovina. This initiative, strongly supported by BiHUnited and partner organizations, emphasizes the urgency of protecting Bosnia and Herzegovina’s sovereignty.
Dodik, for whom a central arrest warrant has been issued in Bosnia and Herzegovina, first traveled to Israel last week in an attempt to gain support from Benjamin Netanyahu. After the visit to Israel did not go as successfully as planned, he returned to Belgrade. For several days, his whereabouts were unknown until Monday evening, when he posted on X that he was in Moscow.
