Wizz Air opens base at Sarajevo International Airport, announces new routes

European low-cost airline Wizz Air has officially opened its 41st base at the Sarajevo International Airport on Thursday and announced the establishment of a new Sarajevo-Stockholm route as of July 16.

Tickets for these flights can be booked via the website wizzair.com or the mobile application at prices starting at 58.99 BAM / 29.99 euros *.

Wizz Air now offers flights from Sarajevo on nine routes to seven countries.

As of May 2021, flights will begin to destinations – Brussels Charleroi, Copenhagen, Dortmund, Eindhoven, Gothenburg, Memmingen, Basel-Mulhouse-Freiburg (Euroairport) and Paris Beauvais, and as of July 16 to the Swedish capital Stockholm (Skavsta Airport).

Chief Supply Chain Officer at Wizz Air, Andras Sebok, said that the company remains committed to BiH.

“With this exciting news, we continue to bring new opportunities for travel at affordable prices, and with enhanced protection measures, we ensure the best possible sanitary conditions. We believe that such investments and the launch of these latest routes will further stimulate the local economy, aviation and the tourism sector,” he said.

General Manager at the Sarajevo International Airport, Alan Bajic, said that Wizz Air opening up its new base will “generate a larger volume of traffic, which is extremely important not only for the Sarajevo Airport but also for the entire tourism sector in BiH.”

Hungary’s Ambassador in Bosnia, Krisztian Posa, said that the very fact that one of Europe’s most successful low-cost airlines, which stems from his country, is establishing flights from Sarajevo is of great importance, “because in that way the ties with Europe and the European Union are strengthened,” adding that it will also benefit tourism in Bosnia and the country’s economy.
