Member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Zeljka Cvijanovic, stated today in Sitnica near Ribnik that the sanctions imposed by the United States on companies and individuals in Republika Srpska violate the basic human rights of citizens in this Bosnian entity. Cvijanovic claims that "the actions against Republika Srpska reflect anti-Dayton behavior by American and European officials."

“Do you want Dayton or not? If not, then we need to have a conversation. It's impossible to be constantly under pressure and then receive meaningless phrases when you ask for an explanation,” she told reporters in Sitnica.

Commenting on the statement by U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs, James O'Brien, that the U.S. will continue with sanctions against the president of Republika Srpska and his associates, Cvijanovic assessed that the U.S. is violating basic human rights because sanctioned individuals are unable to receive their salaries.

“The right to work and receive a salary is enshrined in the highest international acts that protect human rights. The fact is that this has been denied to a certain number of people here,” she said.
