PIC political directors to discuss situation in Bosnia

The political directors of the Steering Board of the international body that oversees Bosnia’s peace will be meeting on Tuesday and Wednesday to discuss the country’s upcoming election and the overall situation in the country.

The Steering Board of the Peace Implementation Council (PIC) is in charge of the implementation of the 1995 Dayton Peace Agreement which ended the war in Bosnia. It consists of representatives of Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Russia, United Kingdom, United States, the Presidency of the European Union, the European Commission, and the Organisation of the Islamic Conference (OIC), which is represented by Turkey.

The Tuesday meeting will be on issues regarding the upcoming general election in the country, where the Central Election Commission will brief the steering board about preparation process for the election. The current situation in Bosnia and the challenges the country is facing will be discussed on Wednesday.

The PIC Steering Board provides political guidance to Bosnia’s top official overseeing the implementation of the Dayton Agreement, the High Representative. The political directors to the PIC Steering Board meet twice a year.
