With 28 votes in favour, eight against and two MP’s abstaining, Tegeltija is taking over the post of head of the state government from Denis Zvizdic, a member of the ruling Bosniak Party for Democratic Action (SDA).
Zvizdic was serving the post in a technical mandate since the 2018 election because of a disagreement between political leaders which prevented Bosnia from forming a new government.
During the discussion in Parliament, Tegeltija presented his programme which focused on socio-economic reforms. He stated that Bosnia should develop its relations with NATO according to state interests.

He also said he was completely committed to respecting the rule of law, the 1995 Dayton Peace Agreement - which ended Bosnia’s war and contains the Constitution - and the competencies of all levels of government in the country.
