Mehmed-pasha Sokolovic bridge, the site where nature meets history

A stunning combination of the historical and natural meets on the 16th-century Mehmed-pasha Sokolovic bridge over the emerald green colours of the Drina river, eastern Bosnia.

The impressive stone construction stretches over 180 metres water surface and is carried by 11 masonry arches.

Locked in ice, the whole scenery looks even more fascinating.

The Ottoman architecture masterpiece, mentioned in many stories and poems over the centuries, is one of the most significant heritage sites of Bosnia and Herzegovina and has been on UNESCO's World Heritage List since 2007.
