Milorad Dodik, Bosnian Serb leader and member of Bosnia’s tripartite Presidency, welcomed the agreement on normalisation of relations between Belgrade and Pristina signed in Washington on Friday and he congratulated to the delegation of Serbia on the successful deal.

“I also congratulate to US President Donald Trump and his team who led this process to the end successfully and without hasty moves,” Dodik said, assessing that the agreement improved Serbia’s position and opened a new chapter that will be marked with many projects of significant importance.

Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic and Kosovo Prime Minister Avdullah Hoti signed the deal in presence of US President, while White House spokesman confirmed on Twitter that the signed document refers to economic normalisation, calling it — “historic.”

Commenting on the agreement, Dodik said this might help in solving the political issues in a different atmosphere.

“Economy, of course, will not and cannot give answers to the open political issues between Belgrade and Pristina, but it can certainly help in solving those issues in much different atmosphere than this that has been present for years,” he underlined.

The deal is a huge step forward in the Belgrade-Pristina relations, Dodik said, expressing hope that those relations will be less burdened in the future than they were in the past.
