Officers from Bosnia's Border Police and Interior Ministry of Republika Srpska entity have been conducting a months-long operation named “Wolf” against organised crime and tobacco smuggling under which they are conducting searches on 17 locations across the country, Border Police said Wednesday.

“On this occasion, police officers documented several illegal acts of organised smuggling and distribution of cigarettes from abroad without excise stamps,” Border Police said adding that a large number of persons organized into interconnected criminal groups were engaged in this criminal activity.

According to them, the alleged criminals had a clearly defined organization of work in which the roles of members were mainly divided, into organizers, suppliers, drivers, cleaners, customers and accomplices in cigarette smuggling and distribution.

“This is the first time that such a cooperation between police agencies was achieved under the supervision of Bosnia's Prosecution and Court,” Border Police said.

They added that these criminal organisations were closely connected with organisations from Montenegro.
