Yesterday morning, the on-duty prosecutor of the Cantonal Prosecutor's Office of the Una-Sana Canton was informed by the Bosanska Krupa Police Station that an attempted femicide had occurred on 501. Sbbr Street in a residential building in the city center. The incident involved E.S. (1991) attempting to take the life of his wife, F.B. (1996), by stabbing her in the neck with a knife, the Prosecutor's Office announced today.

According to the statement, the suspect then inflicted injuries on himself with the same weapon, stabbing his abdomen. The injuries were classified as minor by the on-duty doctor.

Shortly before the incident, the police station received an anonymous report of domestic violence.

Upon receiving the report, the on-duty prosecutor arrived at the scene to oversee the investigation, ensuring that all necessary actions were taken to collect evidence and clarify the circumstances under which the crime was committed.

It was also noted that at the time of the incident, the couple’s six-year-old child was present in the apartment. The child has been placed under the care of the Bosanska Krupa Center for Social Work.

The suspect was taken into custody after being discharged from the Cantonal Hospital and will be handed over to the on-duty prosecutor, who will request that the Cantonal Court in Bihac order detention for the suspect.

According to official records from the Prosecutor's Office, the suspect has prior convictions for the criminal offenses of violent behavior and fraud. However, there were no previous cases of domestic violence or other crimes against his wife, the Prosecutor's Office of the Una-Sana Canton noted.

Woman in stable condition

The woman who was urgently transferred to the Cantonal Hospital on Friday after her husband attempted to kill her in their apartment in Bosanska Krupa is stable and out of life-threatening danger, confirmed the hospital to RTV USK.

She is currently in the intensive care unit and is expected to be transferred to another department later in the day, where her treatment will continue.
