Bosnia and Herzegovina's strategic priority is to integrate into the European Union and NATO, said Edin Forto, BiH Minister of Communications and Transport, during a meeting at the U.S. State Department with Alexander Kasanof, the U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary for the Western Balkans in the Bureau of European and Eurasian Affairs.

Kasanof underscored that any attacks on the Dayton Agreement and the sovereignty of Bosnia and Herzegovina will not go unpunished. He assured that the U.S. is prepared to use all available tools to expand sanctions against those undermining BiH and its institutions. He emphasized that these actions are not just for the benefit of specific groups but for the well-being of all BiH citizens, including those in Republika Srpska.

Both parties reaffirmed their strong support for Bosnia and Herzegovina’s European and Euro-Atlantic integration, stressing that it is unacceptable for BiH to fall behind while other countries in the region take advantage of the Western Balkans Growth Plan.

Reform processes, they agreed, must be free from obstructions as they are essential for the country’s path towards the EU and NATO, both of which are crucial for peace and stability in BiH and the wider region, according to a statement from the Ministry of Communications and Transport of BiH.
