According to the statement, the decision was made in recognition of President Trump’s “efforts to establish lasting peace in the Gaza Strip.”
This marks the first official nomination for the next cycle of the prestigious award and was adopted by consensus among all three members of the Presidency: Denis Becirovic, Zeljko Komsic, and Zeljka Cvijanovic.
Presidency members stated that Trump played a key role in mediating between the Israeli and Palestinian sides. In their view, his diplomatic initiatives helped end the recent conflict and opened the door to a renewed peace process in the Middle East.

The decision followed nearly two months after Cvijanovic first proposed Trump’s nomination in August. At that time, the proposal did not move forward due to procedural shortcomings and was not included in the Presidency’s agenda. Both Becirovic and Komsic had argued that the document was not prepared in line with formal requirements.
It is worth noting that President Donald Trump recently played a significant role in the peace negotiations that led to a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas, the release of hostages, and the opening of humanitarian corridors.
Following the decision, the Presidency is expected to formally submit the nomination to the Nobel Committee in Oslo in the coming days.
