The Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina has issued a first-instance verdict against lawyer Vasvija Vidovic, sentencing her to one year in prison.

Vidovic was convicted of obstruction of justice but was not barred from practising law.

“She was aware that she was committing a criminal offence and acted with intent to hinder the legal proceedings,” the verdict stated.

The ruling is subject to appeal.

During closing arguments, the prosecution argued that it was indisputably proven that Vidovic sought to obstruct evidence in a criminal case. On December 18, 2023, while representing the then-detained Court of BiH President Ranko Debevec, she allegedly concealed his phone, hindering the investigation.
