Bosnia and Herzegovina's Presidency Chair Denis Becirovic met with the President of the European Council, Antonio Costa, at the European headquarters in Brussels to reaffirm the country's commitment to European and Euro-Atlantic integration. The Presidency Chair emphasized that his decision to make Brussels his first working visit since assuming the chairmanship was intended to send a strong message regarding Bosnia's strategic foreign policy goals.

During the meeting, Becirovic stated that BiH fully shares European Union values and views its future as a full member of the bloc. He highlighted that the country has achieved full alignment with the EU’s common foreign and security policy, describing Bosnia as a responsible and credible partner that respects its contractual obligations.

However, Becirovic also informed Costa of significant internal challenges, specifically pointing to destabilizing actions by the political leadership in the Republika Srpska entity. He noted that the Alliance of Independent Social Democrats (SNSD), with support from the Croat Democratic Union (HDZ BiH), is currently obstructing the state-level adoption of key reform laws essential for progress on the European path.

President Antonio Costa reiterated the European Union's firm support for an independent, sovereign, and multiethnic Bosnia and Herzegovina. He emphasized the EU's commitment to the country's European future, while both officials agreed on the urgent need to intensify reform processes and implement the European Commission's Growth Plan.
