The two-day official visit of Bulgarian President Rumen Radev to Bosnia and Herzegovina commenced on Wednesday with a meeting with members of the BiH Presidency. The Bulgarian head of state was welcomed with a ceremonial reception in front of the Presidency building in Sarajevo.
President Radev's visit, taking place on Wednesday and Thursday, comes at the invitation of Denis Becirovic, the Chairman of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
According to official announcements, the focus of the meetings will be Bosnia’s European aspirations, regional cooperation in Southeast Europe, and efforts to strengthen security and stability in the region. Discussions will also cover topics related to the bilateral partnership between the two nations.
During his visit, President Radev will meet with all three members of the Presidency: Denis Becirovic, Zeljka Cvijanovic, and Zeljko Komsic. Following this, plenary talks will be held between the delegations of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Bulgaria. Radev and Becirovic are scheduled to hold a joint press conference.
In addition to his meetings with the Presidency, the Bulgarian President will meet with members of both houses of the Parliament of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Chairwoman of the Council of Ministers, Borjana Kristo, as well as Christian Schmidt, the High Representative for Bosnia and Herzegovina.
President Radev is also expected to visit the Butmir military base, where Bulgarian soldiers are stationed as part of the EUFOR mission in BiH, known as Operation ALTHEA. He will meet with the EUFOR Commander, Lieutenant General Laszlo Stitz.
The visit highlights the growing cooperation between Bosnia and Bulgaria, with both countries focused on promoting regional stability and European integration.
