The Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina partially accepted the proposal of the Prosecutor's Office issued a decision terminating the custody for Ranko Debevec, the suspended President of the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Osman Mehmedagic, the former director of the Intelligence and Security Agency (OSA).
Debevec and Mehmedagic can be released, the court said, after they submit all valid travel documents.
They were both subject of measures prohibiting them from leaving their place of residence, in the form of restrictions in the area of the municipality of their place of residence, a travel ban and a ban on meeting certain people.
“The control of the justification of the imposed measures will be carried out at the end of every two months from the date of the adoption of the last decision. The suspects were warned that they could be detained if they violate the obligations imposed by this decision,” the Court decided.
Debevec and Mehmedagic's detention of three months expires this week and there is no legal possibility to extend it.
They have been in custody since December 18 last year, by order of the BiH Prosecutor's Office.
They are suspected of abusing their position in 2020 and illegally eavesdropping on employees of the state court and prosecutor's office, in order to learn the details of several investigations against organised crime and corruption.
At the request of the BiH Prosecutor's Office, on February 16, the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina extended the custody for both by one month, so that the investigation could be expanded.
