The European Union Delegation in Bosnia and Herzegovina issued a statement saying that the latest actions of the leadership of BiH’s Republika Srpska (RS) entity regarding legislation that would effectively establish a parallel election system in this part of the country undermine the constitutional order of BiH.
“We regret that the leadership of the Republika Srpska entity has chosen to raise tensions, including by proposing a number of actions that undermine the constitutional order of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the functionality of its institutions and fundamental freedoms. This choice not only harms the interests of citizens, but also acts as obstacle to BiH’s EU path”, the statement said.
It also noted that the green light for BiH’s accession negotiations “proved that dialogue instead of escalation delivers results”.
“It is not too late to return to the negotiating table”, it said.
