Bosnia's Federation (FBiH) entity has secured so-called cold-chain for Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine transportation, and the first shipment is expected in a week, learns N1.
The vaccines that have to be kept at minus 80 Celsius degrees will arrive at the Sarajevo International Airport in containers with dry ice and then transported to special refrigerators, where they will stay until the vaccination rollout, according to N1's source.
The health workers will be the first to be vaccinated.
FBiH Assistant Health Minister Goran Cerkez told N1 the vaccines will be equally distributed across this region and its ten cantons.
“The vaccination of health workers is a priority, especially those at Covid wards,” Cerkez said, adding that the elderly will come next.
The Federation will now receive some 10,000 doses out of the total of 800,000 doses secured through COVAX system, while the rest will be delivered successively in the upcoming period, learns N1.
FBiH Health Ministry earlier said that the vaccines that will be delivered in this region will have the European Medicines Agency.
