The High Representative of the international community in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Christian Schmidt, urged citizens across the country to vote in Sunday's local elections.
“Tomorrow, you will have an opportunity to make your voice heard by voting for your local representatives.
Local elections present an opportunity for you to directly influence the decisions that will affect your daily life. Whether it is about infrastructure or environmental policies, local planning or business initiatives, your vote can help shape the future of your community. Your participation contributes to progress, stability, and a brighter tomorrow. Your vote counts, and your voice matters.
The changes to the Election Law that had been discussed for years in Bosnia and Herzegovina and I introduced in March are being implemented to better safeguard your vote. It is in the hands of the Parliament to achieve further improvements.
Additionally, with the support of our international donor partners, the Central Election Commission (CEC) is piloting new election integrity technology. This initiative is a vital step in increasing the public’s trust in the election process. It ensures transparency and fairness, reaffirming the significance of each ballot that is cast.
Dear citizens of BiH, please keep in mind that voting is not just a right — it is a responsibility. By casting your vote, you demonstrate your commitment to shaping a better future for your local community. Every vote strengthens the foundation of democracy and sets the course for progress”, says Schmidt’s statement on the OHR website.
