High Representative in Bosnia and Herzegovina Christian Schmidt confirmed for N1 that he will address the session of the UN General Assembly this April.

When asked about the UN General Assembly session which was earlier announced by Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic and the Resolution on Srebrenica which is still being drafted, Schmidt said:

“I understand that it’s not about looking back, but that it’s something for the future so that something similar does not happen again. What I want to remove from the table is anyone's fear that the Republika Srpska (RS) entity will disappear. No, not at all. I am the guarantor of the survival of Federation (FBiH) entity, RS, Brcko District and BiH. Anyone who wants to abolish the RS must face me. I have to defend the Dayton Agreement and what is stated in it. No fear, I am one of those who will be the first to defend the structures. As for the UN Resolution, I think there is enough time to discuss it.”

When asked if he would address the session of the UN General Assembly in New York, he said:

I will address the session of the UN General Assembly. I will report on developments in terms of EU integration and I will also report on the obstacles I see. I will also talk about the failures we have made in terms of the return of refugees. The youth are leaving, we can lose a whole generation”.
