Joint readiness in focus: EUFOR and Armed Forces of BiH launch "Combined Response 26"

This week’s field activities represent the final stage of an extensive training cycle that began in March. Earlier preparatory phases included specialised training and command-post exercises in Kiseljak and Pazaric, specifically designed to streamline coordination and operational planning between international and domestic personnel.

Strengthening interoperability and command

"Combined Response 26" serves as a critical annual benchmark for testing command and control structures. The primary objective is to enhance interoperability and ensure a seamless joint response to various security scenarios. The exercise features a significant deployment of assets, including EUFOR’s Multinational Battalion and the AFBiH’s 2nd Battalion of the 5th Brigade. The operations involve mechanised units, aviation assets, and specialist explosive ordnance disposal (EOD) teams.

Throughout the live phase, troops will be immersed in realistic Peace Support Operations (PSO). These drills include complex tactical manoeuvres, medical evacuations (MEDEVAC), and integrated air-ground operations, all intended to refine the ability of multinational and local forces to function as a singular, effective unit under pressure.

As a visible and impartial multinational presence, EUFOR continues to operate under its mandate to assist Bosnian authorities in maintaining a safe and secure environment. Officials noted that the "Combined Response" series underscores a long-term dedication to transparency and the development of sustainable security infrastructure.

By conducting these large-scale exercises, EUFOR and the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina intend to reaffirm their strategic partnership and shared commitment to ensuring lasting peace and stability for all citizens across the country.
