Bosnia and Herzegovina’s Presidency member, Zeljko Komsic, met with the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, during a visit to the Presidency's offices in Sarajevo, on Friday.
Komsic expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Kurti and the Government of Kosovo for their recent decision to lift the visa regime for Bosnian citizens. He highlighted the significance of this move, describing it as a remarkable and unprecedented unilateral gesture that will undoubtedly foster closer connections between the citizens of both nations and enhance bilateral trade.
Addressing criticisms of Kurti's visit, particularly those emanating from Republika Srpska (RS), Komsic reaffirmed Bosnia and Herzegovina’s sovereignty. He emphasised that RS does not hold international legal subjectivity or authority over visa issuance for entry into BiH.
“Members of the Presidency will not seek approval from Dodik or anyone else regarding whom they meet or the topics of discussion,” Komsic stated firmly.
He also interpreted regional criticisms of the visit as attempts to undermine Bosnia and Herzegovina’s sovereignty and exert pressure on its independent foreign policy institutions.
The meeting also provided an opportunity for Komsic and Kurti to discuss broader political and social developments in the region, underscoring the importance of dialogue and collaboration in navigating complex regional dynamics.
