Speaking at the commemorative ceremony on the occasion of the 28th anniversary of the genocide in Srebrenica, Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti stated that Serbia is to blame for the genocide, expressing his concern that perpetrators are still not fully punished.
“When we remember the terrible and inevitable genocide, we remember Mladić, the ‘Scorpion’ and the Chetnik ideology that Serbia used, first in Croatia and Bosnia, and then in Kosovo,” Prime Minister Kurti said at the genocide commemoration ceremony in Srebrenica, where over 8,000 Bosnian men, women and boys killed and massacred.
Kurti also expressed his concern that the criminals are still not punished as they deserve.
The Prime Minister of Kosovo further pointed to the support that Serbia provided to the Bosnian Serbs, both militarily and in other aspects, and stated that it was precisely because of this that it was responsible for the genocide in Srebrenica.
As an argument, Kurti mentioned that the agreement in Dayton was signed by presidents Milosevic, Izetbegovic and Tudjman.
The Prime Minister also recalled the punishments served by some of those responsible for the genocide in Bosnia, such as Radovan Karadzic, Ratko Mladic, Ivica Stanisic, and others.
“This shows that the genocide in Bosnia did not happen from the inside, but from the outside,” he said, adding that the responsibility for the genocide lies not only with a few Bosnian Serbs but also with Serbia as a state.
Kurti also spoke about Kosovo's contribution to supporting Bosnia, through resolutions and other steps taken by Kosovo as a state.
“We want peace, cooperation and equality between countries and peoples in the Balkans, but the basis of that peace is the punishment of criminals,” the Prime Minister concluded, RTK writes.
