Croatian President Zoran Milanovic visited the "Eight" (Osmica) memorial in Vitez, where he paid tribute to the Croat children who died during the war in BiH, Fena news agency reported Monday.
After laying a rose at the memorial, Milanovic spoke briefly with family members of the slain children, who thanked him for the visit, noting that he was the first senior Croatian official to visit the site of the deaths of eight children.
Five children were killed on the spot at a children's playground in the Podgradina neighbourhood on June 10, 1993, three died at the hospital, and six children were injured. To date, no one has been prosecuted for this crime.
Milanovic is staying in Bosnia from July 11 to 13, and after Vitez, he will visit Mostar, Ljubuski, Tomislavgrad and Livno.
