Citizens gathered around informal group 'ReSTART BiH' have announced another protest over decisions of the international peace envoy, High Representative Christian Schmidt, which will be held on May 9, the Victory Day.
They first planned to hold the protest in Tuzla, a city north of Sarajevo, but eventually changed the plan.
“Tuzla has been presented over the years as a libertarian, anti-fascist and multi-ethnic city, so we were supposed to continue the tour of the Bosnian cities there on that date. However, due to the current situation we were forced to stay in Sarajevo at one of three locations (and possibly all three). The US embassy, the EU Delegation and, of course, unavoidable, OHR,” the association said.
They emphasised that their all previous protests were a reaction but that this time they decided to offer a solution to the decisions of High Representative.
“Now that they have unpacked the Dayton (agreement), the ones who are making decisions on out state, it would be fair to meet the citizens and give us the answers for what they have done so far, and we will offer them a few solutions in order for the country to function normally. It is our wish to come to a situation where we can finally start fulfilling the 14 priorities for joining the EU, and not to be held back with new ethnic divisions and a complicated system with constant roadblocks. We do not want to remain a case state forever,” they stressed.
As a first solution they offered a return to “original Constitution of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and “municipalisation” as the second solution, the state order with two levels, and the third solution that they plan to reveal on May 9.
“We will send letters of intent in advance to the said addresses, so that high-ranking officials can plan meeting us on May 9, and we will inform the public about the answers,” the group said.
